I was lucky enough to know Michael (or Mike as he always was to us) for nearly 10 years. He came into my life far earlier than intended, when my then very new date Nigel's dental emergency took us to his good friend Mike and his Westgate Practice. When leaving Mike and Nicolette's cosy kitchen much later that evening, I'd found a genuine friend for life.  Times spent with Mike and Nicolette at their home, or at ours were always so meaningful. I have come to realise that we don't have many photos of these times, because we were simply engaged with spending time together. Our trip to my parent's mountain cabin in Norway in 2017 was the most special time. Mike loved it, learning to forage what the mountains offer, learning the history of the area, great times with us all. Mike's drive to "make it happen" meant that it actually happened and wasn't just small-talk. 

Mike was truly one of a kind. A role model, a voice of wisdom, a great listener, funny, caring and honest. A true friend to us both. We are poorer for having lost him. But richer for having known him. Godspeed Mike.
